Boyd to Honor Local Girl Scouts for Community Service
WEST LAMPETER -- Rep. Scott Boyd (R-West Lampeter) will be honoring the members of local Girl Scout Troop 174 for their work to support residents of the Water Street Rescue Mission. Members of Troop 174 have earned the highest award, the Girl Scout Bronze Award, made available to Junior Girl Scouts. The award is in recognition of the group's work in creating and delivering "backpacks for the homeless," special gifts for residents at the downtown ministry.

"These young girls combined creativity, commitment and generosity to provide a wonderful service for those in need," Boyd commented. "We could all take a lesson from their desire to help those in our community who have fallen into difficult circumstances."

Boyd will participate in the Bronze Star Awards ceremony and present the Scouts commemorative certificates at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 12 at the Conestoga Valley Community Center, 333 W. Main St. in Leola.
