PPL Plans Teacher Workshop on Wetlands
HOLTWOOD - PPL’s Brunner Island Environmental Preserve is hosting a one-day workshop for teachers about the uniqueness of wetlands. Teachers will learn about the environmental role of wetlands and the plants and animals that live there. The program includes presentations and hands-on activities in the classroom and field. A hike at dusk will allow the participants to see how wildlife activity increases as night approaches.

PPL naturalist, Jon Beam, will lead the workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18 at PPL’s Brunner Island power plant.

The workshop meets ACT 48 requirements, and teachers will receive a certificate for successfully completing it.

The program is free, and PPL will provide lunch and dinner. Registration is required. For more information, registration and directions, contact Jon Beam at 570 437 3131 or jdbeam@pplweb.com.

PPL’s Brunner Island power plant, located on the west bank of the Susquehanna River about 15 miles downstream from Harrisburg, Pa., generated more than 10 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity in 2005. That’s enough to power more than a million households.

PPL is hosting the program as part of PPL Project Earth, an initiative through which the company educates the public about energy resources and the environment. For more information on PPL Project Earth, visit www.pplprojectearth.com or e-mail pplpreserves@pplweb.com.
