Col. Miller did not comment on the gender of the children nor their specific ages. He did state that investigators have questioned both sides of his family and no one, including his parents, were aware of this alleged incident. Roberts would have been 12 at the time.
"There was no indication from family or co-workers that he was going to commit this crime," said Col. Miller. "We were not able to confirm any report of any molestation."
In a note to his wife, Roberts said he was angry with God for taking Elise. He mentioned also he had been having dreams about what he did 20 years ago and about repeating that. His wife, according to police, did not know what he meant until he spoke of the molestation.
Col. Miller did also, in a press conference at noon, list the items which Roberts had prepared and taken into the school with him. Those items included: cable zip-ties, nails, chains and two tubes of K-Y Jelly®.
Nine years ago, the Roberts lost a daughter, Elise. She lived for only 20 minutes, having been born premature.
