Quilts Benefit Nickle Mine Children's Fund
CHRISTIANA -- The Christiana Fire Company held its annual auction this weekend, with a nice size crowd attending both Friday and Saturday. Two of the gorgeous hand-made Amish quilts were sold as a fundraiser for the Nickel Mines Children Fund. There were quite a few bidders but as the hammer slammed down closing the sale of the first quilt, the winner bidders were Jamie and Donna Williams of Christiana. The second quilt went to Kathy Masterfone. The first quilt went for $925; the second for $950. Half the proceeds for these two quilts will go to the Fund.

Two funds have been set up through the Coatesville Savings at 1082 Georgetown Road, Paradise, PA 17562. One fund is the "Nickles Mines Children's Fund." The other is the "Roberts Family Fund, for Children of the Roberts Family."

Last Monday, October 2, 32 year-old Charles Robert IV, a father of three and a neighbor to many in Georgetown, barricaded himself inside the Nickle Mine Amish School with 10 young girls. Five have passed on. Five remain hospitalized.
