Cutler's Commentary: Seeking Citizens' Suggestions
By Bryan Cutler, State Representative, 100th Legislative District HARRISBURG -- I love southern Lancaster County! In fact, I can think of no better place to live and no greater honor than serving as the representative for this area in the Pennsylvania Legislature.
When I ran for office, I was keenly aware of the risk that every legislator faces, and that is to become so immersed in the Harrisburg culture that you forget your roots and forget the purpose of being an elected official – to represent the interests of the residents you serve. Because I am determined not to lose that connection with my home, I have decided to establish a Citizens Advisory Board, made up of residents of the 100th District who are willing to provide counsel on the important issues facing Pennsylvania. As the great Greek philosopher Socrates once said, “I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing.” Because there are many topics I am painfully aware that I have very limited knowledge on, I anticipate that this board will be a great benefit to my decision making abilities at the Capitol. It is my hope to meet with the board periodically and absorb the expertise and wisdom that participants share with me on topics such as agriculture, education, veterans’ issues, and business. Although I may give updates on what is happening in Harrisburg, I do not anticipate being the one doing the talking. I have already been getting very positive feedback on the establishment of this group, but I am looking to include as many interested residents as possible. If you would like to join my Citizens Advisory Board, please contact Ryan Aument at (717) 786-4551. Editor's Note: Cutler's Commentary is a monthly column, written by Rep. Cutler. |
