Joseph Brown
Joseph Brown, 86, of Woodcrest Villa, 2001 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, Pa, formerly of Quarryville, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Mennonite Homes, Lancaster. He was the husband of Helen May Gleisner Brown. They had celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harry and Marie Johnson Brown. Orphaned at birth, he grew up as a foster child with the late Henry and Ella Ferguson of Ninepoints.
Joseph had been employed as a salesman for the former H.H. Wiggins Chevrolet Dealership, and the Duvall Chevrolet Dealership, Quarryville. He had also worked as a carpenter and had graduated from Stevens Trade School.
Joseph had served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater.
He had been a member of the New Providence Church of God for 55 years, and was a member of F. & A.M. Lodge #156, Quarryville. He enjoyed woodworking and his companion cat “Orangey”.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Jill A. Brown wife of Richard A. Hess of Lititz, Pa. The Funeral Service will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, Pa on Monday, December 31, 2007 at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Lawrence Metzler officiating. The burial will be in New Providence Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Reynolds Funeral Home on Monday from 1:30-2:30 PM. Please omit flowers.
