McCardell, Sr.
Charles R. "Bob" McCardell Sr., 76, of Goshen Mill Road in Peach Bottom went home to be with the Lord on Sunday February 3, 2008. Bob was the husband of Jane Quinn McCardell with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Bob served in the army during the Korean conflict. He was a lifetime member of the Quarryville VFW and a former member of Quarryville American Legion. He worked for DM Stoltzfus Quarry as a weigh -master then retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. After retiring he enjoyed "taxi-ing" his grandchildren around and watching all of their sporting events. Bob traveled to Valley View Restaurant for his daily java and jokes. He also loved bird watching, especially the frequent visits of the local bald eagles. Bob was a member of Little Britain Presbyterian Church. He loved the Lord, Jesus Christ and looked forward to the day that he would meet Him at heaven's gates.
Bob was born in Little Britain Township the son of the late Harry and Levada Wimer McCardell. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Charlie husband of Rhonda and Mark husband of Denise; two daughters, Donna wife of Larry Collins and Christiean wife of Terry Sensenig. Grandchildren, Melissa wife of Jim Landis, Marilyn wife of Bill Webber, Monica wife of Bryan Byers, Michael McCardell, Clifton Bryan husband of Melissa, Marie and Dustin Collins, Chad and Mark Sensenig, Emily, Eric and Ethan McCardell as well as great grandchildren, Cody, Kevin, Grace, Larissa, Haylee, Kyrsten, and Kylie. He has three sisters Betty Short, Roma wife of Javine Lewis and Nancy Holmes. Bob is predeceased by a granddaughter Morgan, sisters Miriam and Anna McCardell, Charlotte Cox, Margaret Stoner, Hazel Spencer, and brothers, Richard (Dick) McCardell and Dwight (Skip) McCardell.
"Bobbie, Dad, & Pop Pop" will be greatly missed and his words of wisdom will live forever in our hearts. Funeral services will be held from the Little Britain Presbyterian Church, 255 Little Britain Road, Peach Bottom, PA on Friday at 11:00AM. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Friends may call at the Reynolds Funeral Home, 144 East State Street, Quarryville, PA on Thursday from 6:30-8:30PM and again at the church on Friday from 10:00AM until the time of service.
