Is It Time For The Southern End Of Lancaster County to Form Its Own Southern End Development Corporation?
With all this building going on in the southern end, wouldn’t you think that the powers to be would get together and form a corporation to encourage and oversee the development of the Solanco area?

Here with in 8 miles of Quarryville, there are over 8 different banks and only the lord know how many contractors and real estates agents, and every one seams to be on their own page, marching to their own drum.

We have new homes and developments growing like cornfields, but when it comes to the creation of new long-term jobs, lots of luck. Just where are those people that are moving into those new homes going to work, how about their children?

With out job development, some of these people will be driving over 60 mile to work, adding to the congestion on our already congested roads and highways. With each new home that is built, no matter if the cost is $50,000.00 or the big fancy $300,000.00 plus homes, there come with them more cars on the roads and more strain on the old system that is here in place at this time.

We have more churches then we do stores to shop in to buy goods for our family.

Just one clothing and general store, two food stores and two drug stores, one dry cleaner and so on. If you live down by the Mason Dixon Line, you may have to drive as much as 30 mile one way for a pair of shoes, now that’s just plane nuts, and you wonder why Wal-Mart wants to move in this area.

We need people of power to get involved with elected officials and develop a plan to encourage new long-term job growth and a better use of our resources.

Sooner or latter public water and sewer will have to be addressed, with each new development there should be mandated road improvements like widening of the roads and the placement of traffic control devices, new fire houses built so that a company don’t have over 100 mile of roads to cover, the forming of an regional police department to cover and serve as with increases of populations also comes increases in crime.

When is the time to start this, yesterday? There is more to Lancaster County then Lancaster City, Willow Street would also be a great location for slots pallor.

With no public transportation, the amount of road repairs and traffic problems increase.

The powers to be were elected by you to serve you, let them know how you feel and what can be done. You, the voters put them there in office, and you can vote them out just as well.
