Lancaster Man Crashes,
to Be Charged with DUI
EAST DRUMORE TOWNSHIP -- A Lancaster man crashed his silver
2005 Toyota Matrix on Route 222 just north of Solanco Road last
Saturday and will face charges of DUI (Driving Under the
Influence) and other traffic offences.
Shawn Patrick Riley, 23, was
traveling north on Route 222 too fast for conditions, according
to Tpr. Minko, when he attempted to negotiate a right curve in
the road. Riley lost control and entered the southbound lane. He
then crossed both lanes of travel and exited the northbound lane
onto an embankment. He continued for approximately 45 feet over
the embankment and overturned into the northbound lane. The
Toyota then slid on its roof approximately 75 feet and came to
rest in the southbound lane.
Riley was treated at the scene by
Susquehanna Valley EMS Medic 779 and transported to Lancaster
General Hospital for minor injuries. Quarryville Fire Department
assisted at the scene. Lewis Towing towed the Toyota, which
sustained severe damage, from the scene.
Charges will be pending for DUI and
other traffic offenses as a result of the crash, according to
Tpr. Minko. The crash occurred at 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, June 7.
