Stolen License Plate E-Mail Is A Hoax
HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania State Police are advising citizens that an e-mail circulating in Pennsylvania warning individuals that license plates are being stolen from vehicles in order to steal gasoline is a hoax.
Versions of the e-mail forwarded to State Police by citizens claim that if your license plate is missing, the plate possibly is being used on another vehicle in drive-off gasoline thefts. The e-mail indicates that the license plate owner could be held responsible for the theft.
The Department did not generate this message and suggests that anyone who receives such an e-mail simply delete it. Don’t become part of the hoax by forwarding the message to others. The information simply is not true.
