-- The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently posted the Program Guidance document for the FY2008 SAFER Grants at the website for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program -
www.firegrantsupport.com. Under the DHS Appropriations Act of 2008, Congress appropriated $190 million for SAFER Grants.

Every day the U.S. Fire Administration collects news stories
from our Nation’s media that deal with the tragic loss of life
from fire in American homes. In January and February alone, over
300 people lost their lives in home fires. Commercial buildings
such as schools, office buildings, and factories have benefited
from fire protection sprinkler systems for over a century. But
what about our homes?

USFA Releases New Firefighter Autopsy Protocol
EMMITSBURG, MD -- The U.S. Fire Administration (USFA) has issued an updated edition of the Firefighter Autopsy Protocol (PDF, 2.6 Mb) manual. Extensively revised since the original 1994 edition, the manual addresses additional areas related to the conduct of autopsies and considers emerging issues and new technologies.

Drumore Fire
Seen for Miles, Doused Quickly
DRUMORE TOWNSHIP -- Robert Fulton Fire company along with Quarryville and Rawlinsville Fire Companies were dispatched Sunday afternoon
(April 13) to a building fire in Drumore Township at intersection of Route 272 and Spring Valley Road. Deputy Rob Samples reported heavy smoke from a few miles out and arrived to find a shed/kennel fire to the rear of the property along Spring Valley Road.
The assignment was limited to Robert Fulton. Units from Quarryville and Rawlinsville were recalled. Robert Fulton pulled two pre-connect hand lines and quickly
